Enrollment in Isolated Subject
Enrollment in Isolated Subject
- ATTENTION: If you use “Hotmail”, “Live” or “Outlook” services, you will most likely NOT receive replies to messages you have sent to PPGEC in your email! There is a problem with these email services, which have been rejecting messages originating from UFSC’s email server. We strongly recommend that you use another email account to communicate with us, please.
At PPGEC, it is possible to request participation from the professor responsible for the subjects offered for the program’s master’s and doctoral courses, without establishing a link with the program. It is essential to first read the entire content of Resolution No. 04/PPGEC/2019, which is the regulation for this type of enrollment. Professors may not accept participation in some quarters, for various reasons and schedules in their planned academic activities.
How do I apply for enrollment?
STEP 1: Contact teachers, exclusively by sending an email, to request acceptance to participate;
STEP 2: Access the UFSC registration system and upload documents.
When: See dates in the Academic Calendar.
What should I do while registration is still open?
1) For more information on the subject(s) you are interested in, go to: Courses
2) Check the subjects that are scheduled to be taught in the next quarter, according to the Timetable. The Teaching Plans, containing detailed information, are available at this same link.
3) Access the Academic Calendar to read it and be aware that the process of requesting enrollment in isolated subject(s) will be carried out in two stages, with specific deadlines.
And when the registration period begins, what will the procedures be?
1) Exclusively within the timeframe of STEP 1 (deadline established in the Schedule), you must have prepared the Application Form for Enrollment in an Isolated Subject to send to the responsible teacher. If you have decided to take more than one subject, fill out one for each and send it to the respective teacher.
1.1) Contact with the professor responsible for the subject you have chosen must be made by sending an email. In this email message, you must briefly introduce yourself, mentioning which undergraduate course you completed and at which educational institution;state that you are available to attend the classes provided for in the teaching plan in person; and finally, request that your participation be accepted and that the professor sign the form and return the signed file, replying to your email, still within the deadline set for the end of PHASE 2 (deadline established in the Schedule).
IMPORTANT: There is no guarantee of obtaining a place in any discipline, as there are professors who may not be accepting students in this condition in some quarters, for various reasons and schedules in their academic activities planned for their year of work in the postgraduate course.
2) Only if you have received back from the professor responsible for the discipline the signed form, indicating acceptance of your participation, you may proceed to STEP 2 (deadline established in the Schedule), following the next steps below.
3) Access, within the deadline specified for STEP 2 (deadline established in the Schedule), the address: capg.sistemas.ufsc.br/inscricao
3.1) Click on “I want to register”; then choose the program (Civil Engineering); the level (Masters or Doctorate); then, in “Process” choose “Registration Isolated Subject_1st Quarter of 2025” – the option will be visible exclusively within the timeframe established in the Schedule.
4) Fill in all the mandatory fields. If you still have questions about the areas of concentration and research lines of the chosen discipline(s) while filling out the form, go to https://ppgec.posgrad.ufsc.br/disciplinas/ IMPORTANT: if you can’t find in the fields the correspondence between the discipline you intend to take and the disciplines that appear in the registration system by area/research line in the fields, NO PROBLEM, continue and choose any that are available there. The identification of the exact discipline(s) in which you wish to enroll will be done through the forms signed by the professor(s).
5) On the final registration screen in this system, save your form in .PDF format to your file.
6) Prepare the following documents (front and back, scanned in “.PDF” format) to upload to the CAPG system: capg.sistemas.ufsc.br/inscricao
- a) Scanned identity document;
- b) Scanned CPF;
- c) Scanned academic transcript of the undergraduate course (for master’s degree) and master’s degree (for doctorate);
- d) Application form for enrollment in a single subject, signed by the professor in charge. If you have registered for more than one subject, you must send the respective forms all together in the same email.
- Note: under no circumstances will photos or documents in other formats be accepted, and if the display of the data and correct identification of the interested party is incomplete or impaired.
7) If the documentation is received in full, you will be informed by email and included in the course attendance list.
8) It is essential that you consult the Subject Teaching Plan (available on the PPGEC website) to be aware of the schedule for each class and the content. In case of doubts, it is essential to read the TEACHING PLAN, before contacting the responsible teacher directly to clarify any other doubts.
9) Start attending classes for the subject from the first day of class established by the teacher in charge. Consult the Timetable to see the day of the week, time and place where the class will be taught.
10) Read Resolution No. 04/PPGEC/2019, which is the program’s regulations regarding this modality.

- Academic period: the course lasts 1 (one) academic term, with approximately 12 weeks duration.
- You are only allowed to request enrollment in an isolated course within the period established by the PPGEC Academic Calendar
- Only upon completing the course, if you have obtained sufficient attendance and a grade equal to or higher than 7.0, will you be entitled to a declaration of completion of the course(s) taken.
