Selection Process for Admission to the Doctorate and Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering – 2026/3rd Quarter

The Graduate Program in Civil Engineering (PPGEC) at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) is accepting applications for the selection process for regular students in the Master’s and Doctoral programs, with admission starting in the third quarter of 2026.

Total vacancies:

  • Master’s: 35 vacancies

  • Doctorate: 27 vacancies

Affirmative action reserved vacancies (RN nº 145/2020/CUn and RN nº 181/2023/CUn):

  • Master’s: 7 vacancies for Black (Black and mixed-race) and Indigenous applicants | 3 for persons with disabilities | 1 for transgender persons

  • Doctorate: 6 vacancies for Black (Black and mixed-race) and Indigenous applicants | 2 for persons with disabilities | 1 for transgender persons

    – Experimental Analysis and Mechanical Behavior of Elements and Structural Systems

Main requirements (summary)

  • Master’s: Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Exact Sciences (minimum workload of 3200 hours).

  • Doctorate: Master’s degree from a program with CAPES score ≥ 3 (or recognized foreign equivalent).

  • Mandatory at the time of application: Indicate the advisor and the exact research line (according to Quadro 1 of the official notice).

  • Essential documents:
    – Study plan (max. 1,000 words, Portuguese or English)
    – Updated Lattes CV (CNPq format) with supporting documents
    – Academic transcripts and diplomas
    – Self-declaration form (for applicants opting for affirmative action vacancies)

Important notes

  • Do not use @hotmail.com@outlook.com, or @live.com emails (known issues with UFSC’s mail server).

  • The study plan is eliminatory (score < 6.0).

  • Approval does not guarantee a scholarship.

  • Validation of self-declarations (for opting candidates) will take place after the 2nd stage, via the Institutional Service Portal (PAI).
